Questions
What metadata does a PDF contain?
Often the author's name, the title, the software that made it, and creation and edit dates. Some files also carry an XMP copy of the same details, and private data from the app that created them.
Is the metadata really gone, or just hidden?
It's removed from the file. Many tools only blank the fields, leaving the old values in the file for anyone who looks. This tool deletes the data, including the XMP copy.
Does this remove names written on the pages?
No. It removes hidden properties only. Text you can see on a page stays.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool runs as code in your browser tab and processes the file on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and the site's security policy blocks the page from sending data to any other website. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while the tool runs, and you'll see no upload.
