Questions
Can it unlock a PDF if I've forgotten the password?
No. You need the password that opens the file. The tool removes the protection; it doesn't crack it.
What about PDFs that open but won't let me print or copy?
Those only have an owner password with restrictions. They unlock without a password: leave the box empty.
Is it legal to unlock a PDF?
It depends on the file and where you are. Only unlock files you own or are allowed to unlock, such as your own statements whose password you know.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool runs as code in your browser tab and processes the file on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and the site's security policy blocks the page from sending data to any other website. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while the tool runs, and you'll see no upload.
