Questions
Which sizes should a favicon include?
16×16, 32×32 and 48×48 cover browser tabs and Windows; add 256×256 for high-resolution displays. Start from a square image of at least 256 px.
Can it read old-style icons?
Yes. Both modern PNG-based icons and classic bitmap icons (including 1-, 4-, 8-, 24- and 32-bit ones) are converted, with their transparency.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool runs as code in your browser tab and processes the file on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and the site's security policy blocks the page from sending data to any other website. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while the tool runs, and you'll see no upload.
