Why use AVIF?
AVIF files are often half the size of a JPG of the same quality. All current major browsers display them, which makes them good for websites.
Why does saving AVIF take longer?
AVIF compression does much more work than JPG. It runs in your browser with the open-source libavif encoder, so large images can take a few seconds each.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool runs as code in your browser tab and processes the file on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and the site's security policy blocks the page from sending data to any other website. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while the tool runs, and you'll see no upload.
