Questions

How do I check a download hasn't been tampered with?

Choose the downloaded file, then paste the checksum from the publisher's site into the compare box. If it matches, the file is exactly what they published.

Which hash should I use?

SHA-256 for anything security-related. MD5 and SHA-1 are fine for spotting accidental corruption but can be deliberately faked, so don't rely on them for security.

Can I hash large files?

Yes. Files are hashed on your device, in the background, so a large file won't freeze the page.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The tool runs as code in your browser tab and processes the file on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and the site's security policy blocks the page from sending data to any other website. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while the tool runs, and you'll see no upload.
