Questions

What is Bates numbering?

A unique, sequential label on every page of a set of documents, like ABC000001, ABC000002. Law firms and courts use it so any page can be cited exactly.

Does numbering continue across several files?

Yes. The files are numbered in the order shown, and each picks up where the previous one ended.

Can I use letters other than A to Z in the prefix?

The prefix and suffix support Latin letters, digits and common punctuation, which covers standard Bates formats.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The tool runs as code in your browser tab and processes the file on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and the site's security policy blocks the page from sending data to any other website. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while the tool runs, and you'll see no upload.
