Alternate-Mix PDF

Interleave the pages of two PDFs, such as front and back scans.

Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.

First PDF (odd pages: 1, 3, 5…)

or drop a file hereFor scans: the front sides.

Second PDF (even pages: 2, 4, 6…)

or drop a file hereFor scans: the back sides.

Turn this on if you scanned the back sides by flipping the whole stack, so they came out last page first.

How to use Alternate-Mix PDF

  1. 1Choose the first PDF (for scans, the front sides).
  2. 2Choose the second PDF (the back sides).
  3. 3If the back sides came out in reverse order, tick Reverse the second PDF. Then mix and download.

Questions

What is this for?

Single-sided scanners make it easy to scan all the fronts of a double-sided document, then all the backs. This tool interleaves the two scans back into the right order: front 1, back 1, front 2, back 2, and so on.

When should I reverse the second file?

If you flipped the whole stack over to scan the backs, the last back side gets scanned first. Reversing puts it back in order.

What if the files have different page counts?

Pages are interleaved for as long as both files have pages. The extra pages from the longer file are added at the end, and the tool tells you.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The tool runs as code in your browser tab and processes the file on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and the site's security policy blocks the page from sending data to any other website. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while the tool runs, and you'll see no upload.
